The Truck Gun

Truck Guns come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and purposes & many armed citizens own them. They have been around since people started to slap 4 wheels and a motor together. A somewhat rare sight now, but many of us can still remember the days of lever & bolt actions, hanging across the back window of pickups. Especially in rural America, truck guns could be found in town or headed back to the field or farm. Once a common sight across this country that many places that once deemed this “normal”, have since had to abide to the current social and the legal status of today’s society. Soo… did they disappear, what happened to them? The trucks, just like the guns innovated and adapted over the years to conform with today’s modern needs.

A few years back when SB Tactical released their first “brace” for pistols based on rifle actions like the AR15, the tides began to change and suddenly what was once considered an “SBR” (which required a hefty amount of legal paperwork) was now available to the average gun owner. This was now a possibility, since the arm brace was deemed as not an adjustable stock, but a support “brace”. Shortly afterwards the ATF and their fine organization released a very broad statement regarding braces being shouldered resulting in mass confusion and hesitation. Flash forward to this year and the ATF released a new statement to the gun community informing us that “it is not illegal to shoulder the SB Tactical brace”. Overnight the “pistol craze” was born, and shelves were emptied of any remaining SB braces and they are still selling steadily.

Truck Gun

Due to the short barrels and buffer tubes many people whom built their own “frankenbuilds”, had difficulty with proper cycling and accuracy. Following the pistol craze/wave of the firearms market, many companies began to produce parts specific to “AR Pistols” to improve their performance. Top-tier companies such as BCI Defense are now making their own complete pistol, which can be relied upon and trusted at the most crucial & critical times. Truck Guns can be found from handguns to full length rifles, but more and more they are being replaced by AR15 Pistols. Short, compact, and reliable this new breed of firearms are taking the automotive world by storm. Easily hidden if desired, and very easily maneuvered inside the cabin, it is no wonder we see them more and more stuck to the ceiling out of sight, or wedged right between the seats and the center console.

From predator/varmint control to personal & property protection, pistols such as the BCI Defense “Lil Dagger” & “Professional Series” are developing into a key part of many American’s #EDC (every day carry) for a wide variety of reasons and needs.

A good AR15 pistol should match its full-length brothers, that means the gun still needs to be balanced, accurate, and above all reliable. I can speak from first-hand experience and several dead coyotes, that the BCI Defense “Lil Dagger” delivers everything required and desired from a pistol length carbine. Next time you are browsing the gun shop, or surfing the web check out the pistol length options available from BCI Defense.
